Remember Grade 9 Health Class, when your teacher had a box at the front of the class where you could ask embarrassing questions? Well we’ve brought the question box from Grade 9 to The Gazette.
Drop by the Student Health Services (SHS) resource room in UCC Room 11 to put your question in the box. All answers are provided by health care professionals, and any identifying information will be kept strictly confidential.
Q. What is a normal-sized penis?
A. The average penis size is between 2.5 inches and four inches in length when flaccid (not erect). The average erect penis is six inches. The smaller penis grows more in an erection than the penis that starts out large. Erection is the great equalizer. And FYI: a bigger size does not make a better lover.
Q. Are there any ways to stop my period while having sex?
A. No, sorry. You can still engage in intercourse, but it can be a wee bit messy. Some forms of birth control can decrease menstrual bleeding or stop monthly periods altogether. Some women will choose to take their birth control pills continuously to delay their period until after a vacation or special event. Talk to your doctor if you wish to know more about these options.
Q. Does asparagus change the smell of urine?
A. Well, if you’ve ever had asparagus, you know the answer to this one.
Q. What’s the deal with sex? Is it awesome or what?
A. Well, if you’ve ever had sex, you know the answer to this one!
