With Super Bowl XXXIX this Sunday, The Gazette sat down with three Mustangs to see what they thought of the big game.

Football head coach Larry Haylor and wide receivers Andy Fantuz and Greg Ross gave their expert opinions on the game and the outcome.

Haylor on:
Patriots coach Bill Belichick’s legacy
Bill Belichick deserves to be compared to the great coaches of all time; you’d have to be a special coach to have this team [Patriots] doing so well for so long.
Eagles defense stopping the calm Tom Brady
Philadelphia’s key to a victory this game will be to push the pocket inside on Brady and force him outside. Brady is very poised, a great decision maker and extremely calm and sticks to the game plan well. If he gets forced out of the pocket, the Eagles can get to him early.
The diversity of superstar QB Donovan McNabb
Donovan McNabb can hurt you in so many ways — he brings a broad spectrum of threats to take the game over. I think he is ready to do so.
Which team will take home the Lombardi Trophy
Both teams are very well-coached and I think the Eagles will win this game. I just think they’re due and it’s their time. It’s their moment and they are ready for it.

Fantuz on:
McNabb’s pocket presence
McNabb can create a lot more time in the pocket for his receivers to get open. If Terrell Owens comes back, they are that much more dangerous and can get open down-field.
Freddie Mitchell calling on Rodney Harrison
Harrison will win the personal battle against Freddie Mitchell. He’ll make a lot of big plays out there and make big hits against the Eagles’ smaller receivers.
The eventual winner
The Eagles are going to win; their defense is underrated. Jeremiah Trottier leads an explosive linebacking core and their secondary is unbelievable. McNabb will be able to create enough time for his receivers to get open and with the return of Terrell Owens, the passing game will succeed.
The game’s most valuable player
The MVP of the Super Bowl will be Donovan McNabb.

Ross on:
Owens’s effect on his teammates and the game
I don’t think [Owens] will be a factor on the field. Off the field, he will pump up his teammates and keep them motivated. His cockiness makes the guys around him more confident.
Pats QB Tom Brady and his comparisons to some of the all-time greats
Brady’s going to surpass them all. With the nature of the game today, Brady’s mental preparation is above the game. Other than Colts QB Payton Manning, Brady is the best student of the game.
