Yet another Ontario University Athletics title for Mustangs Athletics was awarded this weekend when the badminton team rounded out its undefeated streak with another ‘W.’
The badminton squad took home its third-straight OUA gold at Ryerson University on Saturday, defeating the Waterloo Warriors 8-5.
The men’s hockey team also got a taste of victory this weekend, with three wins in four days. On Thursday, the squad took on the Guelph Gryphons at Thompson Arena and Kevin Richardson’s two goals and two assists led the team to a 5-1 win.
Saturday at Brock University, the team took its second win of the weekend 5-3 and followed suit, Sunday shutting out the Windsor Lancers 6-0 back at home.
Unfortunately the women’s hockey team was not as successful, losing both its weekend games. On Saturday, the ’Stangs traveled to Guelph and faced their fifth loss of the season. Ellie Seedhouse and Brittany Buck scored one goal each, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Gryphons, who took the win 3-2.
The team continued its road trip to Brock on Sunday and suffered the same fate as Saturday with a 2-1 loss. Whitney Weisshaar’s third-period goal hinted at a comeback, but the team couldn’t capitalize.
The women’s volleyball team added two more wins to its record and maintained third place in the OUA. The team played Saturday against Wilfrid Laurier University and Sunday versus Waterloo, winning by scores of 3-0 and 3-1, respectively.
