To the Editor:

It’s time to point out a gross violation of business conduct on campus. For several years, a heinous crime has been perpetrated in the Encore Café and many other cafeterias around campus: at most of the Tim Hortons shops, non-steeped tea is being sold at steeped tea prices!

A glass of hot water of any size costs 37 cents. Someone please explain how when you add a tea bag to that order the price of that innocuous cup is increased by 1,000 per cent of the cost of the tea bag alone, and then even more depending on which size of cup you choose to buy.

“Steeped tea” is no more a glass of boiling water and separate tea bag than “fresh-brewed coffee” is boiling water and a pocketful of flavouring powder. As it stands right now, we’re getting ripped off.
