Ask the Editor
Dear Editor,
November, as you may know, is corn harvesting month in southwestern
Ontario. In past years, I have always gone home to help my
dad do some combining.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to make it home to
help, and as a result, my dad has had to do all the work himself.
How can I say I’m sorry when I see him over the Christmas
break?
Thanks for your help and wisdom,

Dear Paul,
Having been conceived, born and raised in a tractor, I know
harvesting corn is a difficult process. As I see it, you
have several options.
a.) Tell your dad the past few months of kicking your feet
up as University Students’ Council president has made
you too weak to be an effective farmer.
b.) Don’t go home for Christmas — the next time
you see him, he’ll be so angry you were never home for
the holidays that he’ll have forgotten all about combining.
c.) Make something up. As a student politician, this option
is probably the easiest.
