CD REVIEW: Blur
Blur
Think Tank
Parlophone

Listen to the opening track "Ambulance": beginning with rubbery
synths, a thumping dance rhythm and Damon Albarn's spoken vocals, the
track eventually winds up as moody, fuzzy-textured psychedelia.
Perhaps losing guitarist Graham Coxon has forced Blur to contemplate as
many new directions as possible hence, the remarkable Think
Tank which pulls off the great trick of combining several sounds
into one cohesive album. By the second track, Albarn is already placing
a gorgeous melody over a Moroccan orchestra ("Out of Time")
and by the third, the guitars are out in full force for the quirky, punk
blast of the first single "Crazy Beat." Surprisingly amazing.
