CD REVIEW: All Systems
Go All
Systems Go
Mon Chi Chi
Aquarius Records

Mon Chi Chi, the follow-up to the band's 1999 debut release,
is straight ahead garage-rock with just the right amount of grunge. Producer
Daniel Rey, who also worked with The Ramones and The Misfits, keeps the
sound clean and crisp without losing any of the band's vital energy.
The punk-influenced "All These Things" is transformed into a
hard-driving rock 'n' roll song by a hummable bridge. Echoes of The Velvet
Underground can be heard in the sneering vocals and hypnotic bass-line
of "Roll Your Eyes." Melissa Auf Der Maur, formerly of Hole
and Smashing Pumpkins, joins in on the FM radio-ready rock-ballad "Meagan's
Law."
Mon Chi Chi proves that All Systems Go is ready to go for mainstream
success.
