REVIEW: Daredevil Outrageous? Well, OK, not really... A delightful mixture of mainly London artists is the best way to describe Outrageous?, the Art Rental and Sales Gallery's latest exhibit. The assortment of local artists provides just a glimpse of the talent that comes out of southern Ontario. CD REVIEW: Daredevil Soundtrack With the success of Spiderman, the studios are trying to duplicate that seemingly winning formula, including the soundtrack. This album features testosterone-soaked alternative metal, much of which sounds like it came out of Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger's hind regions. CD REVIEW: Carbon According to www.carbonrock.com, this four-piece rock band from Kitchener-Waterloo will "get you hot with original music." This 10-song EP is available online and at Carbon shows. MOVIE REVIEW: 25th Hour Norton's career still promising in its 25th Hour Not sold on the idea of soft-spoken preppy Edward Norton as an ex-heroin pusher on his way to seven years in the slammer? Well, neither is his character in Spike Lee's 25th Hour – a film that reflects on decisions, regret and the American dream. Strangers tell their stories through art The current feature at the MacIntosh Gallery, What's Your Story?, reveals distinctly different lives through the creative visions of six female artists: Marilyn Conklin, Roberta Cory, Linda Fried, Amanda Rowe, Laurie Seaman and Rosemary Sloot. CD REVIEW: Cradle 2 the Grave Soundtrack With the advent of the new Jet Li/DMX movie, it's not surprising that there is an accompanying soundtrack from the rapper's label. The soundtrack is meant to showcase the label's up-and-coming "talent," but has nothing to do with the film's plot. The heavyweights on the Cradle 2 the Grave have to carry enough heat to balance out the lightweights' sub-par performances. |
