Porn directors get
anal about life, love and sex
Whether you love it or loathe it, Valentine's Day is here once again.
To some, this day is simply a depressing reminder of the fact that they
are alone. To others, it is an excuse to make sweet love like rabbits
all day long.
The Gazette wanted to seize this opportunity to explore a different
view of love by talking to the always controversial professional love-makers,
creators and filmers. We asked four very different Elegant Angel porn
directors 10 questions. Here's what they had to say:
Axel
Braun
1) Who are you and what do you do?
Axel Braun. General manager of Elegant Angel Productions. Porn director
for the past 15 years.
2) Are you married or in a relationship?
Engaged to a beautiful, intelligent, sexy young woman.
3) Is love defined differently for people in your profession?
Only if you don't have enough brain to handle it.
4) Is it possible to have a "healthy" relationship and
work in the adult entertainment industry?
Absolutely, as long as there is honesty. Lying is the worst
form of betrayal.
5) What's the biggest misconception people have about you?
That I have sex with all the actresses that walk in my door.
6) In an industry famous for quantity over quality, what separates
a good film from a bad one?
The quality of the quantity.
7) What is the most current trend?
I don't watch other people's movies. My trend is, and has always been
only one thing: passion.
8) Where would you like to see the industry go?
To a place where I can hire Al Pacino and Sharon Stone for an anal scene.
9) Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?
In my house, every day is Valentine's Day.
10) What is your idea of the perfect date?
Good food, good wine and a girl that makes me laugh... but I have that
every day at home.
Aside from a short break to respond to The Gazette's porn survey,
Axel Braun is currently busy at work in the studio, directing his latest
epic entitled The Squirting Adventures of Dr. G. We can only
guess what this movie might be about, but it sounds like something that's
right up Axel's alley. Your friendly neighborhood A&E department would
like to congratulate Mr. Braun on his recent managerial appointment at
Elegant Angel, and we wish him luck with his upcumming film.
Jake Malone
1) Who are you and what do you do?
Jake Malone. Director and editor at Elegant Angel.
2) Are you married or in a relationship?
No, no.
3) Is love defined differently for people in your profession?
Love is defined differently by every person who experiences it.
4) Is it possible to have a "healthy" relationship and
work in the adult entertainment industry?
Of course.
5) What's the biggest misconception people have about you?
That everyone is on drugs and that the girls are in some way coerced to
do the things they do in videos. Also, that the free and adventurous expression
of one's sexuality must be driven by some sort of pathology.
6) In an industry famous for quantity over quality, what separates
a good film from a bad one?
In a word: heat. If the director casts the scene with people
who have chemistry, and genuine heat and intensity occur between them,
it's a good scene.
7) What is the most current trend?
Straight gonzo... just some interview-type interaction between the camera
man and the girls, some tease and then sex.
8) Where would you like to see the industry go?
I would like to see the people who don't have any commitment to making
good stuff get out of the business and stop glutting the market with crap.
9) Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?
No.
10) What is your idea of the perfect date?
An extremely expensive call girl (paid for by someone else), dressed in
skintight latex, who wants to be thoroughly degraded.
Jake Malone has just finished directing a film entitled Slave Dolls,
which is sure to delight its target audience. If anyone is interested
in purchasing a prostitute for Malone this Valentine's Day, let us know,
and we'll be happy to hook things up.
Paulo Banana
1) Who are you and what do you do?
I'm Paulo Banana. I'm a director at Elegant Angel, and also an editor
and post-producer.
2) Are you married or in a relationship?
I'm in a relationship, just starting.
3) Is love defined differently for people in your profession?
Somewhat, by many people that I know. Not by me, though.
4) Is it possible to have a "healthy" relationship and
work in the adult entertainment industry?
Yes, as long you [lay out] the terms of your relationship to
your partner, and he/she knows where you both are at.
5) What's the biggest misconception people have about you?
There are so many that it would just be hard to number it.
6) In an industry famous for quantity over quality, what separates
a good film from a bad one?
The love of labour and the time spent on pre-production, production
and post-production.
7) What is the most current trend?
At my company it seems that most everyone's into bondage, fetishes and
violence.
8) Where would you like to see the industry go?
It would be great to see more movies that involve [intellectual thought],
but also show the sexiness of women and their sensual side. We, as directors,
would gain much more respect if the technical side was also improved:
lighting, set design, camera work, etc..
9) Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?
Yes. I'll spend the night with my girlfriend, and cook her a surprise
dinner. It'll be swell!
10) What is your idea of the perfect date?
It's when no one has any expectations, but just have a good time and enjoy
each other's presence, and go from there.
Paulo Banana is currently working on the film Cumback Pussy 49.
Hey, it's the 49th installment; the series must be a classic. Go, Banana!
Mason
1) Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Mason. I'm a female pornographer.
2) Are you married or in a relationship?
In a rocky relationship nothing out of the ordinary.
3) Is love defined differently for people in your profession?
I wouldn't know, I don't hang out with industry types much. But with those
I do associate with, love, is love, is love.
4) Is it possible to have a "healthy" relationship and
work in the adult entertainment industry?
Of course.
5) What's the biggest misconception people have about you?
That I hate women.
6) In an industry famous for quantity over quality what separates
a good film from a bad one?
Not much as far as the average consumer goes. The more effort you put
into your product, the least likely they will gravitate toward it. People
don't like their porn fucked with. But seriously, if the sex is real and
not "porned out," there's no competition.
7) What is most current trend?
Double everything.
8) Where would you like to see the industry go?
As far away from the cable markets as possible.
9) Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?
Updating my Web site, www.insidemason.com.
10) What is your idea of the perfect date?
Going fishing, or to a nice park to have lunch under a tree.
Mason is a very popular and very controversial female director. Her credits
include Lady Fellatio... In The Doghouse, Mason's Dirty Trixxx
and Internally Yours 3. If you'd like take Mason fishing this
Valentine's Day, please submit a résumé and photo of yourself to The
Gazette as soon as possible.
