Lisa needs braces – USC seeks dental plan

On Wednesday, the USC held their sixth meeting of the year, unveiling a plan to establish a dental insurance plan available for students. The plan would coincide with the current undergraduate health plan the USC currently provides.

According to Chris Sinal, president of the University Student's Council, if councillors express enough interest in the potential dental plan, an information session will be organized for the next USC meeting, scheduled to take place on Nov. 20.

Sinal explained the council will decide if they wish to take the issue to referendum in February 2003 based on the information provided in the upcoming meeting.

"Students will be able to vote online at the USC Web site," Sinal said, noting the final decision will rest with the student body.

Finally, a week everyone can enjoy

If equity issues interest you, be sure to pop by the University Community Centre next week.

Equity Services and several campus cultural groups will set up booths from Nov. 12 to 15 in the UCC atrium, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., in order to raise equity awareness around campus.

Nicole Nelson, VP-campus issues for the University Students' Council, said Equity Week will have a broad focus by providing information pertaining to race, gender and various other equity issues at the booths.

In addition, discussion panels will be held on various current issues, she explained.

"[Equity Week] is a chance for students to explore current equity issues of importance to the university community," Nelson said.
