Western and the University Students' Council are encouraging students enrolled in any honours language or linguistic program, or the faculty of arts or social science, to apply for one of two memorial awards. Jaime Notman, USC communications officer, said the Tracey Knight Award gives a prize of $500 to two students in honours language or a linguistic program, including those at the affiliate colleges. She said the deadline to apply for this award is April 30. Notman said the Lisa Gilmer Award gives an $1,800 prize to one student in the faculty of arts or social science entering third or fourth year. She said this award is not based primarily on academic performance and added the deadline for consideration is Feb. 28. Applications can be picked up and returned at the USC office. Notman said relatively few students have applied for these awards in the past. Lori MacIntyre |
