Students can commemorate Kristallnacht today in the University Community Centre atrium at 12:30 p.m. with Western's Jewish Students' Union. President Julie Greenspoon said there will be singing, poetry readings and a glass breaking ceremony to remember the night during World War II when Nazis broke the windows of Jewish-owned stores and destroyed synagogues. A large piece of glass with the word "hate" written on it will be shattered and there will also be a reading from a Holocaust survivor, Greenspoon added. Sara Marett |
